(Tempe, AZ) - USF women's golf struggled in round two of the 2009 NCAA West Regional Friday at the Karsten Golf Course and enter final round action 13 shots out of eighth place with 18 holes remaining. The Dons have own a 36-hole total of 598 (294, 304) and need a huge push Saturday. Only the top eight teams in the 21 team field will advance to the NCAA Nationals. No. 1 Arizona State torched their home course with a 15-under 273 in the opening round and shot a more pedestrian five-under 283 in the second and enjoy a 16 shot lead over USC at 572 (289, 283). No. 25 UC Irvine charged into third place at 573 (289, 284), five shots in front of Texas at 578 (288, 290), while Texas Christian is fifth at 582 (289, 293). No. 8 LSU (295, 288) sits sixth at 583, while and No. 16 Arkansas (289, 296) and Texas A&M 288, 297) cling to a share of seventh place at 585. Junior Natasha Podmore leads the Dons in a share of 34th place at 147 (71, 76). Junior Diana Hong shot the low round for USF on the day carding a one-over 73 and is tied for 45th place at 149 (76, 73). USF completes play in the 2009 NCAA West Regional Saturday morning at the Karsten Golf Course. The Dons tee off on No. 1 tee beginning at 11:30 AM.
