Dons Fourteenth After 18 Holes of NCAA Women's Golf West Regional

The USF women's golf team stands in 14th place after the first 18 holes of the NCAA Western Regionals being held at Entrada at Snow Mountain in St. George, Utah. The Dons shot a 26-over 310 in the first round. The top eight teams qualify for the NCAA finals next week. Junior Jessica Potter paced USF with a three over 74, with senior Kristin Nichols next with a +6, 77. Potter led the team with 15 pars on the day, including nine consecutive after making the turn. Nichols and freshman Christina Stockton shared the team lead with a pair of birdies in the opening round. Stanford leads the event, which continues Friday and Saturday, with 18 holes each day, with a three over 287 on the par-71 course, playing on the Johnny Miller Signature Golf Course. Regional host BYU and Oklahoma State share second place after one round at 291, while Arizona State (294) and UC Irvine (295) round out the top-five. West Coast Conference rival Pepperdine is in a share of eighth place at 301, while the Dons Bay Area rival San Jose State sits in a share of 11th place at 308.
