USF Women's Golf Takes Sixth At 2002 Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic

(Fort Collins) - USF women's golf fired a 300 in the final round to secure a sixth place finish at the 2002 Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club. The Lady Dons finished the 54-hole tournament at 907 (301, 306, 300). Baylor (293, 291, 292) won the tournament, followed closely by host Colorado State (293, 291, 302). Nevada (301, 294, 301) and Nebraska (299, 290, 307) each tied for third at 896, while Denver (298, 302,297) completed the top-five. Sophomore Mariko Shimozaki (76, 76, 73) was the top finisher for USF, placing 17th with a 225, while senior Susie Laing (73, 81, 74) and Jordan Auten (75, 76, 77) each shared 24th place with 228. San Francisco head coach Sara Range was pleased with her team in their first tournament of the 2002-2003 season. "This was a good first tournament for us. We learned where we are at right now and where we need to be to reach our team goals. I am confident we will get there, but we must work really hard to prepare for our next tournament," Range said. San Francisco competes at the 2002 Oregon State Shanico Invitational September 16-17 at Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, OR.
