USF Women's Golf Struggles in Opening Round of 2008 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

(Sammamish, WA) - USF women's golf shot a 321 to open play in the 2008 Edean Ihlanfeld Invitational Monday at the Sahalee Country Club, hosted by the University of Washington. Entering the second round on Tuesday, the Dons own 11th place and are six strokes behind Idaho in sixth place at 315.

Oregon leads the event at 299, followed by Stanford at 303, Oregon State at 306, while Cal and the host Huskies round out the top-five teams at 310. The Vandals are in sixth place at 315, Long Beach State is next at 317, one stroke in front of New Mexico State at 317. BYU sits in ninth place at 318, while New Mexico enjoys a two shot lead on the Dons heading into round two at 319.

Juniors Danielle Cvitanov and Natasha Podmore share the team lead with an opening round 79, good for a share of 27th place.

USF tees off round two Tuesday with a 9:30 AM start.
