(Kapolei, HI) - USF women's golf dominated the field on the opening day of the 2008 Kent Youel Invitational and own an 11 shot lead after shooting a five-under 571 after 36 holes Tuesday at the Kapolei Golf Course. San Francisco shot a three-under 285 in the opening round and followed with a two-under 286 in the second. Juniors Christina Stockton and Natasha Podmore enjoyed their best rounds of the fall season. Stockton shot a season-low four-under 68 and followed with a three-under 69 to claim sole possession of second place at 137, three shots behind UC Irvine's Jane Chin at 10-under 134. Podmore enters the final 18 holes in third place at 139 and fired a season-low three-under 69 in round two. "I am really happy with the way we played today," USF head coach Ria Quiazon said. "The team played really smart today. On a very long day, they stayed focused. Now we just have to carry over what we did well today in tomorrow's round and finish strong." Junior Danielle Cvitanov was one of three Dons in the top-10 after 36 holes with a 137 (72, 74), good for a share of ninth place. Junior Diana Hong shares 25th place at 149 (75, 74). San Francisco carded 31 birdies as a team on Tuesday, led by nine from Stockton and seven from Podmore. Hong chipped in six, Cvitanov added five and junior Tinna Johannsdottir recorded four. New Mexico enters final round action on Wednesday in second place at 582 (291, 291), followed by San Jose State in third at 586 (289, 297). Oregon (291, 297) and UC Irvine (296, 292) share fourth place to round out the top five teams in the event.
