USF Women's Golf Opens the Spring Season at the Bruin Wave Invitational

(Santa Clarita, CA) – USF women’s golf will compete in its opening tournament of the 2010 Spring Season when it takes on an elite field in the inaugural Bruin Wave Invitational, beginning Monday, March 1 at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club. The tournament field features no fewer than seven top-25 programs, including five appearing in the top-10, including tournament co-hosts No. 1 UCLA and No. 9 Pepperdine.
San Francisco enters its first tournament of the spring ranked No. 42 according to GolfWeek.com and No. 44 in the Golf Stat rankings. The Dons and the tournament field will play 18 holes each Monday through Wednesday on the par-72 course playing at 6,282 yards. The Dons tee off Monday on No. 10 tee starting at 8:54 AM.
THE FACTS: The Pepperdine women's golf team has teamed up with UCLA to host one of the top collegiate events in Southern California this season, as the two schools will put on the inaugural Bruin Wave Invitational next week. According to Golfstat's rankings, five of the nation's top 10 and seven of the top 25 teams will be participating.
COURSE/SCHEDULE: The tournament is at the par-72, 6,282-yard Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita, Calif. One round will be played each day between Monday and Wednesday (March 1-3). On Monday and Tuesday, schools will start off holes #1 and #10 at 8 a.m., and on Wednesday, the final round will begin at 7:30 a.m.
FIELD There are 18 teams at the tournament: co-hosts Pepperdine and UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Francisco, Stanford, UNLV, USC, Washington and Washington State.
