#14 Pepperdine Wins 2000 Bay Area Classic For Second Straight Year
(Vallejo, CA) - Pepperdine, propelled by an exceptional final round score of 290 in soggy
conditions at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course, collected their second consecutive title at
the 2000 Bay Area Classic. The fourth annual event is co-hosted by the University of San Francisco
and Cal-Berkeley and is sponsored by nethandicap.com.
The Waves, who are ranked 14th in the nation, had four finish in the top-ten, led by individual champion Tamie Durdin who fired a two-under 69 in her final round, finishing with a two round total of 143. Runner-up San Diego State finished 19 strokes back with a 606 (306, 300) with the Aztec's top finisher, Heather Rollo (72, 73) tied for second at 145. Cal (308, 299 - 607), Cal State Northridge (315, 308 - 623) and Brigham Young (322, 310 - 632) round out the top-five. Co-host USF finished in ninth place (316, 324 - 640). Senior Erin Rogers was the Lady Don's top finisher with a 157 (78, 79). Freshman golfer Laurel Lavelle, competing unattached fired a 155 (78, 77) and finished tied for 19th. Team Scores (17 teams)
