(San Jose) - USF women's golf competes in its second event of the spring season when it heads south down Highway 101 for the 2008 Spartan Invitational, hosted by San Jose State. The Dons open play Monday, March 3 with 36 holes at the Almaden Country Club. The par-72 course will play at 6,179 yards.

San Francisco enters the event ranked No. 55 in the current GolfWeek.com rankings and tackles a strong field in the third annual tournament featuring 15 teams, including three top-50 squads. Cal enters ranked No. 12, North Carolina is No. 34 while the host Spartans are No. 38. Colorado. Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Idaho, Long Beach State, Oregon State, Santa Clara and Washington round our the tournament field.

USF last competed in the Spartan Invitational in 2006 when the Dons posted a fourth place finish with a score of 625 in the 36-hole event. Jessica Potter finished third overall with a score of 151 (77, 74). The Spartans won the event with a 611.

Round one action begins with an 8:00 AM shotgun start. Tuesday's final round is also slated for an 8:00 AM shotgun start.
