No. 24 USF Women's Golf Competes at 2009 UC Irvine Anteater Invitational

(Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) - USF women's golf cracked the GolfStat top-25 poll after posting a victory at the 2009 Oregon Duck Invitational and now heads to Southern California to compete in the Anteater Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine, beginning Monday, March 30 at the Dove Canyon Country Club. The Dons enter the event ranked No. 24 and look to build momentum heading into the 2009 West Coast Conference Tournament.
San Francisco looks to challenge on the par-71 course playing at 5,924 yards. USF has posted seven consecutive top-five finishes, including a team championship in the Pacific Northwest in its last outing and a runner-up showing at the 2009 Fresno State Lexus Classic.
Tournament host UC Irvine enters the event ranked No. 23 in the current GolfWeek.com poll and No. 22 in the GolfStat Poll. The Dons are No. 24 in GolfStat and No. 25 in the current GolfWeek.com poll. The Anteaters won the 2008 event at 909. San Francisco posted a dominating 29-shot victory in the 2004 event behind Kristi Larsen, who posted medalist honors at even-par 216.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: 18 holes each day with a shotgun start at 10:00 AM on Monday and a 9:00 AM tee time on Tuesday. Wednesday's final round kicks off at 8:00 AM. All rounds will feature shotgun starts.
TOURNAMENT FIELD: Cal Poly, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Cal State Northridge, Cal State San Marcos, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Long Beach State, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Francisco.
