St. George, Utah - USF women's golf fired a 304 in the second round and a 317 in the final round to capture the team championship at the 2001 BYU Dixie Classic.

San Francisco jumped out to a seven-stroke lead after round one then widened the gap on the field winning by 15 strokes. The Lady Dons were led by junior Emilie Arnaud (76-73-78 227), who finished third individually, while sophomore Lisa Chen finished tied for fourth (74, 75, 79 - 228). Sophomore Susannah Laing (71, 82, 79 - 232) and freshman Jordan Auten (76, 75, 81 - 232) each tied for ninth place as four USF players recorded a top-10 finish for the first time this season.

For USF it is the first team championship captured since the Lady Dons won the inaugural West Coast Conference Tournament in 1997 at Fort Ord. So far this season San Francisco has posted six top-10 tournament finishes and has recorded top-five showings on five occasions, including runner-up trophies at the Northwest Invitational, hosted by Oregon State and the NAU Lumberjill Tournament, hosted by Northern Arizona.

USF head coach Sara Range is extremely pleased with the showing of her team this week.

"I am very proud of my team. They showed a lot of character and competed at a very high level. Everyone has been working so hard on their short game and it has really paid off for us this week. Everyone contributed today and they came together. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into next week at Stanford," Range stated.
