USF's Christina Stockton Captures Third Straight Sacramento City Women's Championship

June 23, 2008

(Sacramento) - Christina Stockton captured her third consecutive title, winning the 73rd Sacramento City Women's Championship Sunday afternoon at Bing Maloney Golf Course. Stockton rallied for a five-under 68 in the final round to force a playoff and secured the trophy with a birdie on the third playoff hole.

Stockton shot a one-over 74 in first round action on Saturday, trailing first round leader Brooke Green by five strokes. The Dons standout rebounded with a five birdie round on Sunday, finishing with a 36-hole score of four-under 142.

Stockton joins local legends Elizabeth Brand, Judy Anderson and Big Break Kaanapali star Kim Welch as the only women to win three championships in a row. A two-time All-West Coast Conference First Team selection, Stockton will enter her junior year at USF in the 2008-09 campaign.
