Chaneng Joe and Jessica Potter Named to 2008 NGCA Academic All-American Team

Seniors Chaneng Joe and Jessica Potter capped their collegiate careers with selection to the 2007-08 National Golf Coaches Association Academic All-America Team, as announced by thee organization Wednesday. It is the third honor for Potter and the first for Joe.

Joe turned in a 3.64 GPA in Marketing and also captured 2008 West Coast Conference Academic Team selection for the first time. Joe turned in her most productive season as a senior, highlighted by 2008 All-WCC Honorable Mention selection.

No stranger to success on the course and in the classroom, Potter turned in one of the most decorated careers in program history. Potter wrapped up her career with a 3.73 GPA in Exercise and Sports Science. A three-time All-WCC First Team selection and a three-time WCC Academic Team pick, Potter turned in a record-setting career on the Hilltop. Potter won the 2006 Royale Cup National Canadian Women's Amateur crown and posted 12 collegiate top-five finishes.

Selection criteria for the NGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
