(Fort Collins, CO) - USF women's golf is set to start the 2008-09 season when it plays its first event at the 2008 Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic, hosted by Colorado State, beginning Monday, September 8. The Dons are playing in the event for the fifth time in eight years and won the 2004 tournament by 13 strokes. San Francisco welcomes a talented class of newcomers to the fold and combined with a strong core of returners, head coach Ria Quiazon looks forward to getting the season started. "I am very excited to get this season underway. I have been pleased with the way we have practiced during the preseason and I look for the hard work to pay off in our first tournament. I feel there is a lot of balance on this team and I know everyone is very excited to get started," Quiazon said. Two newcomers - Tinna Johannsdottir (Gardabaer, Iceland/McNeese State) and Diana Hong (Gold River, CA/Washington State) - will make their Green and Gold debuts in the Rockies. The two transfers will team with juniors Danielle Cvitanov, Christina Stockton and Natasha Podmore. Tournament Details: The Ptarmigan Country Club is a 6,207-yard, par-72 course. The 54-hole tournament will begin with two rounds on Monday with a shotgun start at 7:30 AM (PT) and the final round will take place Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM (PT). USF at the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic: USF competed in the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic from 2002-05. The Dons posted a sixth place showing in 2002, before running away with the 2003 event, seizing a 13 stroke win. Senior Kristi Larsen was the medalist for the Dons, firing a 5-under 211.
