USF Women's Golf Begins Drive To NCAA Tournament Today
Sept. 10, 2001 USF women's golf tees off the 2001-2002 season today in Fort Collins, Colorado where they are competing in the 2001 Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Invitational, hosted by Colorado State. The Lady Dons look to challenge once again after turning in the most successful season in program history last season with six returning letter-winners from the first team to qualify for an NCAA Regional. San Francisco opens the year ranked #48 in the GolfWeek team ratings released prior to the 2001-2002 season.
Last season, USF captured the 2001 West Coast Conference Championship in an upset of #11 Pepperdine and advanced to the 2001 NCAA Central Regional hosted by Purdue. Three golfers - senior Emilie Arnaud, and juniors Lisa Chen and Susie Laing - earned all-tournament honors with Arnaud capturing individual medallist honors in the title match. Laing finished as runner-up.
