USF Women's Golf In Second After Day One At So. Cal Intercollegiate

(Calimesa, CA) - USF shot a 310 in the opening round of the 2001 Southern California Intercollegiate at PGA of Southern California Golf Course, good for second place in the 36 hole event. San Francisco's West Coast Conference Rival Pepperdine, shot a 298 to take the day one lead into the clubhouse. Long Beach State (311), UC Irvine (315) and Cal State Northridge (322) round out the top-five of the seven-team field at the event hosted by Long Beach State and UC Riverside.

Junior Susie Laing led USF with a two-over 74, good for fourth place, while sophomore Jordan Auten also placed in the top-10 with a 77 for a share of ninth. Waves teammates Lindsey Wright and Katherine Hull each shot even par to share first place after 18 holes.

USF competes in the final round of the Southern California Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
