(Corvallis, OR) - USF women's golf shot a final round 301 to finish fifth at the 2001 Oregon State Shanico Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Course. For the Lady Dons it is their fourth consecutive top-five finish of the season. San Francisco entered the last round in eighth place.

For the second time in three rounds, all counting golfers for San Francisco carded rounds in the 70's. The tournament team score of 903 marked a three-round tournament program low for the Lady Dons. The previous best for USF was a 911 in their runner-up finish at the 2000 OSU Shanico Invitational.

California (286, 298, 298) and Arizona (289, 288, 305) each tallied a score of 882, with the tournament championship going to the Golden Bears by virtue of a low score carded by their fifth player. Stanford shot 885 (295, 296, 294), followed by Washington at 897 (300, 296, 301), while San Francisco rounded out the top-five at 903 (299, 303, 301).

Junior Susie Laing was the top finisher for USF after firing a 74 in the final round for 217 (72, 71, 74) to place sixth overall. Junior Lisa Chen also shot a 74 in the last 18 to finish with a score of 226 (77, 75, 74) for a share of 18th place. Junior Lyndsey Devenish (76, 77, 77) and freshman Mariko Shimozaki (74, 80, 76) each carded three-day totals of 230 for a share of 30th.
