USF Women's Golf Closes Fall Season in Hawaii

Oct. 20, 2006

(San Francisco, CA) - USF women's golf takes a trip to the Islands to compete at the 2006 Kent Youel Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Kapolei Golf Course. The Don's last fall tournament will take place with two rounds on Tuesday, October 24 and the final round will be played Wednesday, October 25.

Coming off a breakout performance at the 2006 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, held October 9-11, freshman Natasha Podmore looks to continue playing a strong, consistent game. Podmore carded five birdies for a final round score of one-under 71, jumping into eighth place at 223 (75, 77, 71).

Along with Podmore, freshman Christina Stockton and juniors Chaneng Joe and Jessica Potter will compete in Hawaii. Senior Eloise Vicencio will also make her season debut.

San Francisco will face Hawaii, Southern Methodist, Oklahoma, UC Irvine, Idaho, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Nevada, Coastal Carolina, Southern Illinois, Toledo, Boise State, San Diego State and Cal State Northridge on the par-72 course.

"This tournament will provide a strong field and a favorable location to play golf in late October. After a fast start and tasting a little disappointment at Sahalee, I am very interested in seeing how our kids react to adversity. We've had a productive week and a half of practice and I feel confident that our finish will lessen the sting of our red eye flight home," head coach Josh Cupp said.

Look for action to get under way with a shotgun start Tuesday, October 24 at 10:30 am PT. Visit www.usfdons.com for a full tournament recap and results.
