(San Francisco) - Danielle Cvitanov (Sacramento, CA/UC Davis/American River College) signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play golf at the University of San Francisco, USF women's golf head coach Josh Cupp announced today. An exceptional golfer, Cvitanov recently earned runner-up honors at the 2006 California Women's Amateur Championship. The Northern California native brings a list of accomplishments to the Hilltop from an outstanding prep career and a brilliant 2005-06 season playing in the number one position for UC Davis. Cvitanov is enrolled at American River College and will compete as a sophomore in 2007-08 for the Green and Gold.

"I am thrilled to announce the signing of Danielle. She will bring immense experience to the Hilltop and has already enjoyed a tremendous success at the collegiate level," Cupp said.

Cvitanov was named the Division I Independent Women's Golfer of the Year as well as the Newcomer of the Year to cap off a tremendous season. Boasting a 74.6 stroke average over 26 rounds, Cvitanov led UC Davis to a memorable inaugural season in 2005-06, finishing in the top-10 in no fewer than seven tournaments and in the top-20 in all 10 events with the Aggies. Cvitanov captured medalist honors at the Division I Independent Championship in Windsor, Colorado in April 2006 and at the Cal Poly Invitational in November 2005, shooting a three-under 143 for the individual victory at the 36-hole tournament.

While at Loretto High School, Cvitanov placed fourth at the California State Championship as a senior, after sweeping the Capital Athletic League and Sac-Joaquin Section Championships. During her four year prep career, she was a three-time All-CAL honoree as well as a two-time league MVP.

An accomplished amateur, Cvitanov competed at the 2005 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Roswell, Georgia and placed among the top-25 at the 2004 Junior World Championship in San Diego. She also captured the Sacramento Junior City title in 2003.

Cvitanov joins the Hilltop with three years of eligibility and a fine golf background. Her father, Robert, is a great golfer and has played an instrumental role in the development of Cvitanov's game.
