Mike Herman begins his third season as assistant coach for the
Dons in the 2010 season. He graduated from Saint Mary's with a
degree in Spanish in 2007.
Herman played at Saint Mary's College from 2003-2004 until a back
injury caused him to sit out his sophomore season. He transfered to
Holy Names University his junior season before leading his team
into the Conference semi-finals.
After re-injuring his back, he focused his attention on coaching,
starting with Pinole Valley High School in 2006 . At Pinole Valley,
Hermnan served as the varsity head coach for two years. In spring
2007, he led a U-18 Girls team from Bay Oaks Soccer Club to an
undefeated season and a first place finish in league without
conceding a single goal.
In the fall of 2007, he worked as an assistant coach at Contra
Costa College. The following spring he joined on as an assistant
coach at San Francisco State where he worked primarily with their
goalkeepers. In his time with the Gators, Herman helped them to
prepare for a season where they had a combined Goals Against
Average of 0.66 and 13 shutouts on the year. That year, San
Francisco State made their first ever appearance in the CCAA soccer
championships.
He currently works with the U-16 Girls team from Bay Oaks Soccer
Club and as a trainer and goalkeeping director at Sutton Soccer
Training Facility. He holds his USSF "C" License, NSCAA Premier
Diploma and an NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma.
