USF graduate Jason Werner returns to the Hilltop for his first season as the Assistant coach for the University of San Francisco Women's Soccer team. He spent the last four years as Goalkeepers coach. Werner graduated with a bachelor's degree in politics in 1996. He returned to USF after spending four seasons as an assistant coach with the men's and women's teams at Dominican University.
Werner brings a wealth of soccer knowledge and winning experience after a successful playing career and coaching jobs at both the University and youth level. Werner played for USF from 1993 through 1995, earning a West Coast Conference Student Athlete Award for 1994-95.
Currently, he is the co-director, head coach and trainer of the Central Marin Competitive Soccer Club, a collection of 20 teams for both boys and girls, which includes the Class I and Premier Central Marin Magic girls' teams and Class I Central Marin Arsenal boys' squads. In the summer of 2004, his Marin FC 90 girls' team brought home a US Club Soccer National Championship in the under-15 age group.
"I am excited to be the assistant coach for USF Women's soccer," Werner said. "I feel that I have strength on the organizational side of things and will be able to bring that to the team this year. I think I can be a supportive compliment to Pam and use my analytical and ovservational skills to help this team improve and win."
Werner holds a USSF 'B' Coaching license, NSCAA Advance National and Goalkeeper diplomas and studied and played under USF soccer legend Stephen Negoesco.
