USF Women's Soccer Defeats Saint Mary's and Humbolt State in Spring Matches

March 2, 2008

(San Francisco, CA) - USF women's soccer (2-0) competed in two spring matches Saturday as they defeated both St Marys and Humboldt State at Negoesco Stadium.

In the first game against St Marys, Kristina Hall scored the only goal of the game, a nice left footed shot to the top corner from inside the box.

Against Humboldt State, Sam Brand finished a quality solo effort dribbling around the keeper and slotting the ball into an empty net to put the Dons up 1-0. Katherine Kimure added a second goal moments later from a free flowing move off Brand's pass to finish clinically in the corner.

"Its a great start to the spring and its good to be back out there playing once again. I saw some really good things today and overall I was delighted with the effort from the group. Its now up to us to get back out there and continue our hard work and keep improving," said Coach Carr.

The Dons return to action on Sunday, March 30 at Negoesco Stadium against California Storm of the WPSL at 1 p.m.
