USF Women's Soccer Falls at Oregon 2-1
Sept. 7, 2003
(Eugene, OR) - San Francisco got a goal from freshman forward Shuree Hyatt, but Oregon responded with two in the first half to secure a 2-1 victory in non-conference women's soccer action Sunday afternoon in Eugene. USF (2-2) had legitimate scoring chances, particularly in the second half, but could not convert against the Ducks (3-0).
USF held an 8-7 shot advantage in the second half, but Oregon held a 16-13 edge for the match. Junior midfielder Annika Schmidt and freshman midfielder Chelsea Hunt assisted on Hyatt's goal - her second of the 2003 campaign.
San Francisco had opportunities to win the contest, but could not convert chances into goals, according to USF head coach Pamela Kalinoski.
"We had some legitimate scoring opportunities against them, especially in the second half where I thought we controlled the pace of the game. We were just unable to find the back of the net. We missed Kate Nelson (out with a concussion suffered at Oregon State), but Shuree Hyatt scored a great goal for us. We had a stretch where we lapsed defensively and that coast us," Kalinoski said.
USF returns to action when they host Bay Area Rival San Jose State at Negoesco Stadium, Thursday, Sept. 11. Match time is set for 7:00 PM and will mark the debut of the new FieldTurf surface at Negoesco.
