USF Women's Soccer Shut Out By Pacific 1-0

(San Francisco) - USF held a commanding 19-5 shot advantage, but Pacific found the back of the net at the 18:16 mark and held on for a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer victory Sunday at Negoesco Stadium. The Dons (3-3) suffer their first blanking of the season, while the Tigers (1-5-1) win their first match of the year.
Freshman forward Carmen Padilla scored the only goal of the contest in the first half winning a one on one battle with the keeper to the right post. Pacific's defense was stretched, but did not break.
San Francisco had multiple scoring chances, but Pacific freshman keeper Eryn Kishimoto made nine save, six coming in the second half as the Dons applied nearly constant offensive pressure with 10 second half shots. Junior midfielder Annika Schmidt led the way with six shots, while sophomore Liz Sylva added three attempts.
Senior goalkeeper Jennifer Orantes (3-3) suffered the loss for the Dons, recording three saves on five shots. Kishimoto earned the win for the Tigers.
San Francisco returns to action when they travel to Arizona for a pair of matches against Arizona State Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 PM and then take on Arizona Sunday, Sept 21 at 1:00 PM.
