USF Women's Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision at UC Davis

Sept. 14, 2007

(Davis, CA) - USF women's soccer continued its eight match road trip Friday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 decision at UC Davis, fueled by a Dayna Dumont first half hat trick. The Dons (0-2-2) actually out-shot the Aggies (3-2-0) 17-13, but the damage was done.

Freshman Lauren Maris scored her first goal for the Dons in the 31st minute off a feed from senior forward Fiona O'Sullivan - her first of the year. Sophomore midfielder Kristina Hall finished with three shots to lead USF.

Junior goalkeeper Anika Steig recorded 45 shutout minutes in the second half, while junior starter Katie Hodgson recorded three saves in the first period.

USF travels to Reno to play Nevada Sunday afternoon. Match time against the Wolf Pack is set for 1:00 PM at Mackay Stadium. Nevada (0-3-1) fought to a double-overtime 3-3 draw against Sacramento State Friday.
