USF Women's Soccer Falls at #19 Arizona State
Sept. 19, 2003
(Tempe, AZ) - San Francisco women's soccer battled, but could not overcome a talented Arizona State squad, falling 3-0 in non-conference action Friday. The Dons (3-4) offense just could not finish against the Sun Devils (4-1-1), who entered the week ranked 19th in the country.
USF jumped out of the gates well offensively, holding a 6-5 shot advantage in the first half. ASU took control in the second frame with an 8-4 edge. Freshman forward Chelsea Hunt led the way for San Francisco offensively, taking five shots. Five other USF players recorded one shot apiece.
Senior goalkeeper Jennifer Orantes (3-4) suffered the loss in goal for the Dons, recording three saves on 13 shots.
USF returns to action Sunday when they travel to Tucson for a match against Arizona. Kickoff against the Wildcats is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
