Women's Soccer Defeats Seattle University 1-0

(Seattle, WA) - After earning a program record five consecutive ties, San Francisco women's soccer defeated Seattle University 1-0 at Championship Field on Sunday afternoon. The Dons (5-1-5) remain unbeaten in their last seven contests. Freshman midfielder Alyson Drake scored her first collegiate goal to give the Dons a win. At 81:20, sophomore midfielder Keonna Robinson passed the ball on to Drake who flicked it in over the keeper into the goal. Seattle (5-6-1) led the Dons in shots (14-6) and corner kicks (4-3). Senior goalkeeper Kelly Pohle earned five saves in 90:00 minutes. Along with Drake, senior midfielder Kristina Hall, sophomore midfielder Kallie Caldwell, sophomore forward Molly Hall, freshman midfielder Joan Piasta, and freshman forward Megan Connor each had one shot in the match. "Awesome win on the road for us against a good Seattle team," said head coach Mark Carr. "We defended magnificently and hung around until Aly scored the winner. We need to improve before conference starts."
USF doesn't return to the pitch until Sunday, October 11, when it hosts West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's at Negoesco. Kick off is set for 1:00 PM. |
