USF Women's Soccer Ties Washington 2-2 in Double Overtime

(Seattle, WA) - USF (2-9-1) played the University of Washington (0-8-3) to a 2-2 double overtime tie in non-conference action on Sunday. The tie is the Dons first of the year and kept the Huskies winless in 2005.
The Dons attacked first when freshman mid-fielder Katherine Kimure scored her first goal of the season, an unassisted shot from 25 yards out at 15:43, beating junior goalkeeper Kelsey Rasmussen to the goal. The Huskies tied the game in the 33rd minute on Don freshman goalie Katie Hodgson after freshman forward Melissa Beal scored on an assist from freshman mid-fielder Jenna Robison.
USF regained the lead late in the second half. At 83:42, junior forward Chelsea Hunt scored her fifth goal of the season on a header off a corner kick by freshman mid-fielder Jessica Gaskin. The lead didn't last long. Two minutes later, Robison added a goal of her own on a cross from junior defender Cathy Roe.
After two overtime periods, the score remained the same. Washington out shot the Dons 21-13 on the day. Hodgson had seven saves for the dons, while Rasmussen had four for the Huskies.
The Dons continue play on Friday, October 7 against UC Davis in Davis, CA at 4:00 PM. The game marks the last non-conference match for the Dons in 2005 before beginning WCC action on Sunday against Saint Mary's.
