(San Diego, CA) - San Francisco played a great defensive game, allowing just one goal by No.15 San Diego on Friday night at Torero Stadium. The 1-0 West Coast Conference loss drops the Dons to 5-8-2, 0-2-0 WCC, while the Toreros rise to 10-3-2, 2-0-0 WCC. USF didn't allow a goal in the first half, but at the 65:58 mark, USD managed to find the back of the net. Freshman defender Natalie Garcia looped a ball over the heads of the Dons defense and into the goal box, where freshman forward Stephanie Ochs took one touch to control the ball and hit a laser strike into the back of the net for the game winner. Dons' junior goalkeeper Kelly Pohle earned the loss, allowing the one goal, but saving seven in 90:00 minutes. USD's senior goalie Brittany Cameron earned the win, allowing no goals and had one save. San Diego out shot the Dons 17-1 in the match and held a 7-1 corner kick advantage. "We had a great defensive effort tonight," head coach Mark Carr said. "To come here and lose 1-0 to the No. 15 team in the country is a phenomenal achievement for our team. If we can build on this in our remaining conference games, it will make for a great finish for the season." USF returns to action on Sunday in Santa Clara, meeting the Broncos for a 1:00 PM kick off at Buck Shaw Stadium.
