USF's Final Home Match Of 2007 Goes To Broncos

SAN FRANCISCO - An unassisted goal by Santa Clara's Kiki Bosio broke a 0-0 deadlock in the 58th minute to give the Broncos a 1-0 victory over San Francisco Sunday afternoon.

San Francisco falls to 2-12-3, 2-4-0 in WCC play with one match remaining. Santa Clara is now 11-5-3, 3-3-0 in the WCC standings.

Senior Fiona O'Sullivan, junior Katherine Kimure and freshman Lauren Maris had two shots apiece to lead the Dons' attack. Bosio had the match-high with three. Overall the two teams were closely matched on shots with Santa Clara topping the Dons, 12-9.

USF junior goalkeeper Katie Hodgson made four saves on the day. The Broncos' Meagan McCray had five saves between pipes in recording her sixth shutout of the year.

"We had a great collective performance today." USF Head Coach Mark Carr said. "I felt we competed with a nationally ranked opponent and created some really good chances. I felt the difference was they took their chance in the game. We can take a lot of positives from this match. Our effort, defending and possession at times were very good."

San Francisco closes out the 2007 season next Sunday at San Diego. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

DONS' NOTES - USF is now 0-23-0 versus Santa Clara all-time... San Francisco was 2-3-1 at home this season... prior to Sunday's match USF seniors Fiona O'Sullivan, Lauren Tweet, Katie Hoban and Kara Breithaupt were honored.
