Nov. 5, 2001
(Laramie, WY) - San Francisco scored first, but Wyoming score more often, downing USF 4-2 in non-conference women's soccer action Sunday in Laramie. USF (9-8-1) dominated the match on paper, holding a convincing 24-14 advantage in shots against the Cowgirls (4-10-3) but trailed Wyoming in the goals category.
Junior midfielder Caty Harris scored just 2:44 into the match for her second goal in two games off a feed from sophomore forward Rebecca Shook. Wyoming would answer back with a goal at 21:34 to tie the score at 1-1 at the half.
Shook converted a cross from sophomore defender Alana Healy at 55:29 to give the Dons a 2-1 advantage, but Wyoming scored three unanswered goals to seal the match for the Cowgirls. Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Orantes suffered the loss for USF, allowing four goals on 14 shots, while recording six saves on the afternoon.
San Francisco returns to action Monday when they play Colorado College in a 6:00 PM (PT) contest in Colorado Springs.
