Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 At Colorado College
Nov. 5, 2001
(Colorado Springs) - USF women's soccer dropped their second match on their road trip 2-1 to Colorado College on Monday. The Dons (9-9-1) scored first on junior forward Meghan Daly's fifth goal of the season, but the Tigers (11-4-2) kept their NCAA hopes alive by coming from behind in the second half to halt USF.
For the second straight match, USF got on the board first this time as Daly scored at the 33:49 mark off a feed from junior midfielder Kirsteen Buchan. The Dons took a 1-0 lead into the locker room at the half. Colorado College came out firing in the second frame and held an 11-6 advantage in shots in the second half, scoring the equalizer at 66:34 and the game-winner at 86:58.
With the loss, USF's four-match winning streak against Colorado schools is snapped as the Tigers avenged a 1-0 shutout loss at Negoesco Stadium last season. The Tigers held a 22-14 edge in shots in the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Beall recorded seven saves in the match but allowed two goals in 90 minutes.
San Francisco closes out the 2001 campaign with a West Coast Conference match against Bay Area rival Saint Mary's on Friday, Nov. 9. The Gaels enter the contest ranked in the top-10 nationally and are in the hunt for the NCAA playoffs. Match time is at 7:00 PM at Negoesco Stadium.
