(San Francisco, CA) - The University of San Francisco women's soccer team has signed eight players for the 2010 season, as announced by head coach Mark Carr today. Players from as close as San Rafael (Tyler Campagna) and as far away as Norway (Silje Lofthus and Christina Moberg) will join the Dons in the fall. USF will also bring in Kelly Hoose (Los Gatos, CA), Rita Hurlbut (West Hills, CA), Layla Martin (Tucson, AZ), Kelsey Moe (Salem, OR), and Andie Stone (Austin, TX).

"I am really thrilled about this class and I want to thank my assistants for their help in securing this remarkable group of young women," said Carr. "We have provided great depth in key positions and I know these ladies will be solid students, soccer players and ambassadors for the University of San Francisco. As we look to build on last year, I see them having an immediate impact on our team and challenging our returners come August 2010."

Tyler Campagna: Terra Linda High School; San Rafael, CA

Second year varsity team captain, Tyler Campagna is a four-year letter-winner at Terra Linda High School. She earned Honorable Mention All-MCAL in 2007 and Second Team All-MCAL in 2008 and 2009, along with Scholar Athlete status three years. Currently, Campagna is in her fourth year with the Marin FC Blue `93s as a center-midfielder and captain. She and the team were Las Vegas Showcase Champions in 2009 and Golden State Soccer League Champions in 2008 and 2009. She also led her team to the finals at the Disney College Showcase in 2009. Off the field, Campagna participated in the CASL Leadership Conference in 2007 and 2009, and was the California Delegate for the RSVP Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. in 2008.

Coach Carr "Tyler is a top local prospect and one of the best playmaking midfielders in Northern California. Her passing to keep possession and over distance is phenomenal and she will provide competition in the central midfield or centrally in the back for us. She is great in tight spaces, has the ability to change the point of attack and can shoot from a distance. I am thrilled to add another top local player to our program."

Jason Werner, HC Marin FC "Tyler does an excellent job linking one line of the team to the next, and has the vision and technical ability to mix-up the attack with either short combinations or longer balls that stretch defenses. Tyler is a solid defender with excellent ability to win balls in the air. She has a very good first touch and the technical ability to play in tight spaces. Tyler can strike the ball with accuracy and range with both feet, making her an asset on set plays and a threat to score from outside the penalty area. Her greatest asset is her ability as a play maker, especially when it comes to playing long passes with the accuracy and weight to find front runners around and behind opposing defenses."

Kelly Hoose: Los Gatos High School; Los Gatos, CA

Kelly Hoose is a four-year letter-winner for Los Gatos High School, a team currently ranked 22nd in the Nation and 1st from the San Jose Mercury News. As a freshman and a sophomore, Hoose was name Second Team All-League and earned First Team All-League accolades as a junior. Hoose helped her high school team get to the CCS Division I finals in 2008, and received Academic Achievement Awards all three seasons. In club ball, Hoose plays for De Anza Force, a team that won the State Cup Championships in 2008 and 2009. The team went to the quarterfinals of the 2008 USYS Far West Regionals, was a 2008 San Diego Surf Cup Super Group finalist, and a 2008 North versus South Tournament finalist.

Coach Carr "Kelly is a local girl from the South Bay and has been part of a solid DeAnza Organization. She is a natural winner who will provide depth on the right-hand side of our team. She has a great engine, can get up and down all day long and she makes good decisions in possession of the ball. She is a great student who excels in the classroom."

Curtis Mccalister, HC De Anza Force "Kelly is a self motivated, hard working, coachable student athlete that is eager to excel both in the classroom and on the field at the collegiate level."

Rita Hurlbut: Chaminade High School; West Hills, CA

Senior team captain Rita Hurlbut is a four-year letter-winner from Chaminade High School. She earned First Team All-Mission League as a sophomore, junior, and senior, and took home Third Team All-CIF junior year. In 2009, Real So Cal was the Surf Cup Champions, and the Far West Regional Champions.

Coach Carr "Rita is a natural born leader who possesses a relentless mentality. She wants to win and expects nothing less. She is dominant in the air, loves to get stuck in and has a sweet left foot. I see her adding to our quality in the midfield or as a left full back. She is a set piece specialist and can deliver dangerous balls into the attacking third."

Kristy Walker, HC Real So Cal "Rita is an outstanding leader and team player. She is hard as nails, great in the air and has a quality left foot. She will make the University of San Francisco soccer program better through her personality, presence and work ethic. She hates to lose."

Silje Lofthus: Stabaek FC; Norway

Silje Lofthus is currently playing for Stabaek FC, one of Norway's top teams. In 2009 Stabaek FC placed second in the Norwegian series. In 2008, as a junior, Lofthus played for Asker FC, finishing third. While with Asker FC, Lofthus played in the Norwegian Inter-Regional series and helped the team to one league Championship and a few runner-up finishes. Lofthus was voted best player in one Regional Tournament, saving four-out-of-five penalties in a shoot-out. On previous teams (under 15/16/17), Loftus played several matches for Norwegian National teams, traveling and playing against some of the top teams in Europe.

Coach Carr "Silje is one of the best young goalkeepers coming out of Norway and is part of one of Norway's top club teams. She is a fearless competitor, great shot stopper and a big leader on her team. Her experience with Norway's youth national teams (U15, U16 and U17) will benefit our program immensely. I expect her to come in and compete for a starting spot right away."

Katrine Pedersen, HC "Silje is a brave goalkeeper who has good timing and is strong and athletic. She has speed and she does well in physical tests in general. She is a solid shot stopper who will have immediate impact on the University of San Francisco soccer team."

Layla Martin: Rincon University High School; Tucson, AZ

Layla Martin is a three-year letter-winner for Rincon University High School. As a sophomore in 2008, she helped her team win the Arizona 5A-II State Championship. Martin is also a three-year captain of the Arizona Rush club team that competed in the ODP Region IV Tournament, and was a National runner-up one season. Martin is one of just five girls from Arizona selected to attend the ODP Regional Camp.

Coach Carr "In my opinion, Layla is one of the top players coming out of Arizona. I believe Layla will reach her full potential in our San Francisco soccer environment. She is a soccer junkie who wants to win in everything she does. For us, I see her challenging for a starting position anywhere in the back or in the midfield from day one. Her delivery on set pieces will be a dangerous threat for any opponent. Off the field, she is an outstanding student."

Chris Sydney, DOC AZ Rush "Layla Martin is the top center back coming out of Arizona in the 2010 class. She continues to improve everyday she steps on the field. Her ability to destroy attacks and start them from the backline will immediately help San Francisco. Her distribution of the ball with both feet will be key to her success. I think Layla is one of the top players in the west region and will help San Francisco continue its long history of team success and individual accolades. Her work ethic is of the highest quality and this will help her have an outstanding college career."

Christina Moberg: Top Athlete High School; Norway

Christina Moberg started her career playing for Radar Juniors in 2004 and helped the team win League Championships each year she was a member. Moberg was top scorer for two seasons straight, with a tally of 58 and 60 goals per season. She went on to attend the prestigious Top Athlete High School (NTG) for three years from 2006-2009. While attending NTG, she played for the 1st Division club team Asker FK. With Asker, Moberg helped lead her team to a Norwegian Cup win in 2007, and came in second in the 1st Division League twice (2007 and 2008). She then went on to play for Donn in the 2nd Division. Moberg scored a total of 30 goals in her years as an Asker FK player and scored 4 goals in half of a season for Donn. She also participated on the Asker FK junior team that won the Norway cup in 2007.

Coach Carr "Christina has played for one of the top high school and youth teams in Norway and will be an immediate offensive threat for us. I see her playing as a forward or wide in the midfield. She can beat players off the dribble, can make play, and break opponents down with her passing. She is lethal with her left foot inside shooting range."

Katrine Pedersen, HC "Christina is a player with great speed and a very good left foot. She is very technical and has the ability to play pass long and short. She is extremely coachable and can finish anywhere within shooting range. She is ultra competitive and wants to win in everything she does."

Moe is currently playing for her third year with Tualatin Hills United Neon, where she has helped her team to two State Cup championships and a quarter-final berth in the Far West Regional League. Moe also competes with the South Salem High School varsity track team.

Coach Carr "Kelsey is one of the top players coming out of Oregon. She is a proven winner with her club and high school teams and will add great competition to our forwards. With her athleticism, pace and defensive work ethic she will create opportunities for us in the attacking third of the field."

Tom Atencio, DOC Tualatin Hills. "Kelsey is an exceptional D1 athlete that continues to improve her game daily. Kelsey will bring the work ethic of a proven champion to a very good University of San Francisco Women's Soccer Program. Kelsey's club team, Tualatin Hills United Soccer Club Neon, is a four time Oregon state champion and national power. Kelsey is used to competing and will bring a mentality that both coaches and players will appreciate."
