USF women's soccer team continued to make progress towards the end of their Spring season at the Kicks against Breast Cancer Tournament on Saturday April 18, in Palo Alto, CA.

USF tied a very talented Stanford team at 0-0. Last season Stanford earned a berth to the 2008 NCAA Tournament and made it to the Final Four with North Carolina, UCLA, and Notre Dame.

"Once more, we continue to get better and improve with every game. Defensively we were very solid, organized and gave little away. Our back four (Sam Brand, Kelli Woodard, Abbey Kaufman and Alyssa Simbahon and Goalkeeper (Kelly Pohle) were outstanding and limited a very potent Stanford team to minimal chances. Up front Molly Hall continues to be dangerous and she caused the Stanford backs a few problems," said head coach Mark Carr.

Earlier in the day, USF dropped their first game to the California Storm, the current WPSL Champions and FC Gold Pride Reserve Team.

"Spring is all about development and the first half was very good against the Storm. They are a very powerful team and they had an abundance of talent. Defensively, we were very good and once more created some good scoring opportunities," added Carr.

USF finishes out their Spring Season this Friday April 24 versus SF State. Kick off is 7:00 PM at Negoesco Stadium.

On Friday, April 17, the Dons women's soccer team hosted a very successful fundraiser, the First Annual Night at the Races. At $25 per ticket, diners bet on horse races to win raffle tickets for great prizes.
