Women's Soccer Signs Norwegian Standout
June 29, 2010
(San Francisco) - University of San Francisco women's soccer head coach Mark Carr has announced the signing of Hanna Haanes to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Dons for the 2010 season. Haanes joins eight other newcomers previously announced and will travel to the Hilltop from her native Norway.
"Hanna is one of the top youth international players coming out of Norway," commented Carr. "We are thrilled she is coming to USF. She has had National Team experience on the U16, U17, U19 and U20 Norway National teams and she is currently with the U23s. She is a dynamic, attacking player who will immediately impact our team."

Haanes travels to San Francisco after a successful career
with the Norwegian National Team program. Haanes began her career
with her local club, Kolbotn, before joining the Ole Gunnar
Solskjaers Academy in 2006. At the age of 15, Haanes joined the
Norwegian U16 National Team, scoring a goal in her first match as
Norway defeated Sweden 3-1. In 2007, Haanes helped to lead
Kolbotn's first team to the National Championship, while also
joining the U17 Norwegian National Team. With the U17 National
Team, she competed in the European Championships in France and was
named Player of the Match in two of three contests. Recently,
Haanes has joined the Norwegian U19, U20 and U23 teams, while
competing for the prestigious Wang Academy.
Haanes joins a talented class of newcomers joining the Dons this fall. Carr previously announced the additions of Tyler Campagna, Silje Lofthus, Christina Moberg, Kelly Hoose, Rita Hurlbut, Layla Martin, Kelsey Moe and Andie Stone.
