USF Women's Soccer Hosts Successful Alumni Day

Aug. 16, 2008

(San Francisco) - USF women's soccer hosted a successful alumni event to kick off the start of the 2008 season Saturday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium. The Dons welcomed back 10 former players to the first annual event, including USF Hall-of-Famer Kelli Bryant and three-time All-West Coast Conference Second Team selection Chelsea Hunt.

San Francisco's current squad scored two goals in the first half and made them stand up for the final result. Junior midfielder Kristina Hall and freshman defender Kallie Caldwell tallied scoring strikes for the Dons.

Following the match a barbecue was provided for friends, family and supporters of the USF soccer program, hosted by the Green and Gold Club. Head coach Mark Carr said a few words about his team and discussed goals for the upcoming season.

USF opens the 2008 regular season Friday, August 22 when it hosts Fresno State. Match time against the Bulldogs is set for 5:00 PM at Negoesco Stadium. The Dons look to avenge a 1-0 shutout loss last year to Fresno State in the Central Valley.
