THIS WEEK FOR THE DONS: USF travels south this week to take on two L.A. area schools in non-conference soccer action. The Dons take on the host Anteaters of UC Irvine on Friday at 7:00 PM. Last season, Irvine took a 1-0 double overtime win at Negoesco Stadium. On Sunday, USF heads to Northridge for a match with the Matador's at 1:00 PM. Last year, the two team finished with a 0-0 tie after double overtime.

NEXT UP FOR USF: USF returns home for one game next week, hosting Cal State Bakersfield on October 5 at 1:00 PM.

FRESHMEN MAKING AN IMPACT: Through seven games this season, the incoming freshmen have been making quite an impact, with 13 of the 14 already seeing significant playing time. Two of them have already recorded not only their first collegiate goals, but they were also game winners. Forward Kelli Woodard earned the win for USF with a shot against Northern Colorado (W 1-0, 8/29). She also had the assist in USF's 1-0 season opening win over Fresno State (8/22). Forward Nicole Moore also earned the win for the Dons in a 1-0 victory over Tennessee-Martin in the Pacific Fall Classic (9/12). She added to her team leading goal (3) and points (6) total, scoring both Dons goals in the 2-1 win over San Jose State (9/18).

RETURNERS DOING THEIR JOB: USF veterans are doing their job on the field, especially senior midfielder Katherine Kimure and junior forward Kristina Hall. Kimure scored the Dons first goal of the year, a game winner in the 1-0 victory over Fresno State (8/22). Hall scored a goal in the 4-1 loss to Colorado that prevented the Dons from being shutout on the road (8/31). Sophomore forward Keonna Robinson also got in on the action, adding an assist to freshman Kelli Woodard's goal against Northern Colorado (8/29).

DONS AMONG THE WCC LEADERS: Four Dons are among the top ten in ten different categories in the West Coast Conference. Freshman forward Nicole Moore and junior goalkeeper Kelly Pohle lead with four each. Moore is tied for second in game winning goals (2), tied for seventh in goals (3), tied for ninth in goals per game (0.33), and tied for tenth in points (6). Pohle is third in saves per game with 4.50, fourth in saves with 27, tied for fourth with two shutouts, and seventh in goals against average at 1.41. Senior midfielder Katherine Kimure is tied for eighth in shots (21) and tied for ninth in shots per game (2.33). Senior goalie Anika Steig is ninth in saves with 13, and tied for tenth with one shutout. As a team, the Dons are second in saves (45), and tied for third in shutouts (4).
