Complete Release in PDF Format THIS WEEK FOR THE DONS: USF has a bye on Friday, but hosts Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday at Negoesco Stadium. Kick off is set for 1:00 PM. Last season, the Dons played the RoadRunners to a double overtime 0-0 tie (9/30). Bakersfield plays at USC on Thursday before returning north for the match against USF. NEXT UP FOR USF: The Dons host Seattle University on Friday, October 10 at Negoesco, in their final non-conference match of the season. Kick-off is set for 5:00 PM. On Sunday October 12, USF begins West Coast Conference play at Saint Mary's. Game time in Moraga is scheduled for noon. FRESHMEN MAKING AN IMPACT: Through nine games this season, the incoming freshmen have been making quite an impact, with 13 of the 14 already seeing significant playing time. Three of them have already recorded their first collegiate goals, two of which were also game winners. Forward Kelli Woodard earned the win for USF with a shot against Northern Colorado (W 1-0, 8/29). She also had the assist in USF's 1-0 season opening win over Fresno State (8/22). Forward Nicole Moore also earned the win for the Dons in a 1-0 victory over Tennessee-Martin in the Pacific Fall Classic (9/12). She added to her team leading goal (3) and points (6) total, scoring both Dons goals in the 2-1 win over San Jose State (9/18). Defender Kallie Caldwell kept the Dons from being shutout with a goal in the 84th minute of a double overtime tie at Northridge (9/28). Defender Lauren Abarca leads in assists with two, both in the 2-1 win over San Jose State (9/18). RETURNERS DOING THEIR JOB: USF veterans are doing their job on the field, especially senior midfielder Katherine Kimure and junior forward Kristina Hall. Kimure scored the Dons first goal of the year, a game winner in the 1-0 victory over Fresno State (8/22). Hall scored a goal in the 4-1 loss to Colorado that prevented the Dons from being shutout on the road (8/31). She also added an assist in the 1-1 double overtime tie at Northridge (9/28). Sophomore forward Keonna Robinson also got in on the action, adding an assist to freshman Kelli Woodard's goal against Northern Colorado (8/29). DONS AMONG THE WCC LEADERS: Four Dons are among the top ten in eight categories. Junior goalkeeper Kelly Pohle leads all Dons with four spots including second in saves per game (5.38), third in saves (43), tied for sixth in shutouts (2), and eighth in goals against average (1.40). Senior goalie Anika Steig is also in the saves category, coming in ninth with 13 saves. Senior midfielder Katherine Kimure is fourth in shots (32) and fifth in shots per game (2.91). Freshman forward Nicole Moore is tied for third with two game winning goals, and tied for eighth with three total goals. As a team, the Dons are first in the WCC with 62 saves and third with a 1.44 goals against average.

A LOOK AT CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD: The Roadrunners are currently 4-7-1 and will meet USC on Thursday before traveling to San Francisco for a match with the Dons. Last season CSUB was 5-13-1 in its first full year against Division I opponents. Head coach Nicole Van Dyke is in her third year at the helm for Bakersfield. She has a 15-29-6 record at the school and a 51-48-13 career record (5 years). Freshman forward Kassi Massey leads the RoadRunners with two goals, two assists, and six points.
