She scored in the Dons first game of the season, helping USF to a 2-0 win against San Francisco State (8/21). Hall then scored twice in a 4-0 drubbing of Academy of Art (8/30). Her final goal so far came in the 3-0 win over Fairfield in the USF odwalla/Nike Classic (9/6). DONS OFFENSE: USF has 20 goals this season, eight more then they had all of 2008. Freshman forward Megan Connor (AAU 8/30, Pacific 9/20, EWU 9/25) is second on the team with three. Junior midfielder Lauren Maris (one vs. AAU on 9/30 and one vs. Fairfield on 9/6), sophomore forward Molly Hall (two vs. SMC 10/11), freshman midfielder Aly Drake (SU 9/27, USD 10/18) and freshman forward Laura Gordon (game winner vs. Marist on 8/28 and one vs. Fairfield on 9/6) each have two scoring strikes for USF. Five Dons have also scored their first ever collegiate goals in 2009 including, junior defender Ashley O'Brien (EWU 9/25), sophomore midfielder Megan Bucci (Marist 8/28), sophomore midfielder Keonna Robinson (CS Fullerton 9/13), freshman midfielder Camile Cholger (SF State 8/21), and freshman defender Ashlyn Mazur (USD 10/18). WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM THEIR FRIENDS: Nine Dons have helped out their teammates in 2009. Senior Kristina Hall, junior Ashley O'Brien, sophomores Keonna Robinson and Kelli Woodard, freshmen Laura Gordon, and Ashlyn Mazur each have one assist this season. Freshman Megan Connor, sophomores Megan Bucci and Molly Hall, and junior Lauren Maris lead the assist category with two each. WEEK NINE OPPONENT CAPSULES GONZAGA BULLDOGS A LOOK AT GONZAGA: A new era began for the Gonzaga University women's soccer program in 2009 as new head coach Amy Edwards embarked on her first season for the Bulldogs. Coming off of a season that saw the Zags play in a school-record six overtime matches, this year's squad is made up of three All-West Coast Conference performers and 10 players that made at least 13 starts last season. Current leaders include, sophomore forward Sarah Rhodes, who has three goals and two assists, and junior midfielder Sheridan Jones with two goals and four assists. PORTLAND PILOTS Head Coach: Garrett Smith, 7th Year (Portland `91) A LOOK AT PORTLAND: Portland entered the 2009 season with high hopes and a roster that was expected to have no national team defections during the regular season and playoffs for the first time since the Pilots won the 2005 NCAA Championship. Despite missing three key starters to the U-20 FIFA World Cup - Michelle Enyeart, Keelin Winters and Elli Reed - during the NCAA playoffs, the Pilots pushed Stanford to the closing minutes on the road before losing by a 1-0 margin. The U-20 trio, in addition to USA national team goalkeeper Kelsey Davis, Canadian national teamer Sophie Schmidt and USA Under-23 veterans Kendra Chandhoke and Jessica Tsao, give the Pilots a returning core of players with extensive international experience. Portland returns nine players that started at least half of last year's games, a number that does not include the three U-20 players and Chandhoke (medical redshirt in 2008). The Pilots also welcome a talented five-player freshman class that features USA Under-17 defender Cloee Colohan, three of the top recruits from the state of Oregon, and a top Bay Area product. Daniel Foxhoven leads the Pilots with 15 goals and six assists, while Enyeart is second with 11 goals and 11 assists.
