Alana Healy Named WCC Player of the Week
Nov. 5, 2001
Sophomore midfielder Alana Healy picked a dramatic time to score her first career goal at USF when she struck at the 17:38 mark for the game-winner against #20 Pepperdine in West Coast Conference action at Negoesco Stadium last Friday. For her contributions in leading an inspired, team effort in the upset 2-0 shutout of the Waves, Healy earned WCC Player of the Week honors.
Healy, a native of Seattle, also played solid defense for the Dons as they improved to 1-2-1 against the top-25 this season. It was the first victory for USF against the Waves since the 1998 season. Healy also tallied an assist in San Francisco's tough 4-2 loss at Wyoming on Sunday. For the Dons it is the first WCC Player of the Week selection of the season and the first for Healy.
