Women's Soccer Closes Out 2001 vs. #12 Saint Mary's

Scouting St. Mary's: The Gaels are traveling to the Hilltop after defeating 18th-ranked San Diego in a 3-0 shutout at Garaventa Field last weekend. Freshman forward Jennifer Barbera scored the game winning goal for the Gaels, her third of the season. Freshman forward Katie Frattone scored her ninth goal of the season against the Toreros. Junior goalkeeper Ruth Montgomery recorded one save and her 9.5 shutout of the season in the victory. Frattone leads the Gaels with nine goals and six assists on the season including four game-winners. She is joined by sophomore forward Lucianne Crenshaw with seven goals and two assists for the season and Barbera who has tallied six goals and three assists with three game-winners. Montgomery enters the match with a 0.36 goals against average having given up only six goals all season while recording 73 saves with a .924 average.
Alana Healy Receives WCC Honors: Sophomore defender Alana Healy was named WCC Player of the Week for her first time for her game-winner against #20 Pepperdine last week. For Healy it was her first career goal on the Hilltop as the Dons toppled their first top-25 team of the season, to improve to 1-2-1 against the nation's elite programs.
Final Game For Heidi Prestegard: Forward Heidi Prestegard enters the match as the Dons' lone senior. She has tallied 16 goals in her career including four game-winners teamed with five assists. Prestegard recorded a pair of two goal games this season in 2-1 defeat of Pacific and a 3-0 shutout of the Bulldogs at Gonzaga which included two game-winning goals as well. Ranks second on the team with five goals and is tied with three other Dons for assists with two on the season. Heidi received All-WCC Conference Honorable Mention honors for the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons.
USF Defeated by Wyoming: The Dons traveled to Laramie to complete a postponed game from earlier in the season. The Cowboys defeated USF in a 4-2 decision on Sunday. Junior midfielder Caty Harris started the game with a goal recording her second goal in two games. She was followed by sophomore forward Rebecca Shook who tallied a goal off a sophomore defender Alana Healy assist.
Colorado College Tigers Beat Dons: USF dropped a 2-1 decision to the Tigers after completing another postponed game in Colorado Springs. Junior forward Meghan Daly scored her fifth goal of the season in the loss. Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Beall recorded seven saves on the day. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak over Colorado schools for the Dons.
