Shuree Hyatt and Annika Schmidt Named to All-West Coast Conference Second Team
Nov. 12, 2003
(San Bruno, CA) - Freshman forward Shuree Hyatt (Kent, WA) and junior midfielder Annika Schmidt (Welver, Germany) were named to the All-West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Second Team as announced by the league office today. The selections mark the first time since 1996 two Dons have earned all-league second team honors in the same season. Senior defender Shannon Allen (Las Vegas, NV) earned Honorable Mention selection for the third time.
Hyatt made a tremendous impact in her first season on the Hilltop, leading the team in scoring with eight goals and 20 points. Hyatt scored two goals, including the game-winner and added a pair of assists in a 8-0 rout of San Jose State (9/11). Hyatt also tallied the game-winner in an impressive road WCC victory at Gonzaga (10/17) and shared second place on the team in shots with 37. Despite being moved to a defender role following numerous injuries, Hyatt ranked among WCC leaders in points (5th), goals (T-5th) and shots (8th).
Schmidt also made her presence felt in her first season at USF after transferring from North Carolina State where she earned First Team All-ACC honors in 2002. Schmidtranked second on the team with 14 points and dished out eight assists, the most tallied by a USF player since Jannik Abel assisted on 10 goals in 1994. Schmidt registered a pair of two assist games against Boise State (8/31) and Cal State Northridge (9/26). In addition, Schmidt rated second among WCC leaders in assists.

Allen, completed a standout career at USF this season and did an exceptional job organizing a defense decimated by injury. One of the toughest players to wear the Green and Gold, Allen registered an assist at Oregon State (9/5).
Head coach Pamela Kalinoski is pleased with the honorees and the contributions they made this season.
"This speaks volumes for where our team is heading landing two players on the second team in a conference of this caliber. The impact these players made was recognized by the coaches in this conference. It is exciting that these players will return and contribute to this program in the years to come. Shuree proved what a versatile athlete she is by playing at a high level in both the front and the back, while Annika proved she is by far one of the most technical players in the conference," Kalinoski stated.
