Dec. 7, 2009

(Kansas City, KS) - Senior midfielder Kristina Hall and junior defender Ashley O'Brien were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-West Region Second Team, as announced by the NSCAA this weekend. Both Hall and O'Brien earned West Coast Conference Honorable Mention in November for the 2009 season.

Hall led the Dons with four goals on the season, and added one assist for nine points. She scored in the Dons first game of the season, helping USF to a 2-0 win against San Francisco State (8/21), then scored twice in a 4-0 drubbing of Academy of Art (8/30). Her final goal came in the 3-0 win over Fairfield in the USF odwalla/Nike Classic (9/6). Her assist came in the 2-1 win over conference and Bay Area foe Saint Mary's (10/11).

O'Brien, who transferred from UCONN, had a successful year for the Dons in the back. She scored her first ever collegiate goal in the 2-2 overtime tie at Eastern Washington (9/25). O'Brien also added assists against San Diego (10/18) and a 1-0 win at Bakersfield (11/1).

Hall and O'Brien are the first Dons to be named to an All-Region Team since Annika Schmidt in 2001.

"I am so pleased for Ashley and Kristina. To be recognized as two of top players in a very competitive region of the country is outstanding," said head coach Mark Carr.
