Women's Tennis Defeats San Jose State 6-1

(Los Gatos, CA) - USF women's tennis swept all six singles matches for a 6-1 victory against San Jose State at the Lost Gatos Sports and Recreation Club in non-conference action Tuesday. With the win, the Lady Dons improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Spartans fall to 0-2. USF number one Gabi Ruiz and number three Carey Savage each bounced back after losing the opening set for victories, with Ruiz taking a 4-6, 6-2 (10-8) win, while Savage triumphed 4-6, 6-3 (10-3). Anna Skogerboe won 6-3, retired at number two for the Lady Dons. Beae Bernhoft cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four and Michelle Duncan won at number five 6-3, 6-3. Jill Rader dispatched her opponent 6-1, 6-2 at number six. San Francisco returns to action when they host UC Davis Friday, Feb. 7 at Golden Gate Park. Match time is scheduled for 1:30 PM.
