USF Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 to Saint Mary's

(San Francisco) - USF women's tennis dropped a hard-fought West Coast Conference match to Bay Area Rival Saint Mary's 4-3 Thursday afternoon at Golden Gate Park. USF (1-2) won the doubles point and captured wins at #3 and #6 singles, but lost a war at #5 to the Gaels (1-2).
Junior Gabi Ruiz captured the win for San Francisco at #3 singles with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 marathon win against Megan Schulman. Newcomer Joana Laranjinha won a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (6) decision against Anne-Joy de Graan at #6 in her Lady Dons debut. Larajinha and Camille Pamart combined for a 8-6 win at #1 doubles, 8-6 against Nicole Huntstock and Aude Lambert.
USF returns to action when they take on Bay Area and WCC rival Santa Clara Friday, Feb. 6 at Golden Gate Park. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
