USF Women Rally For 5-2 Victory Against UC Davis

(San Francisco) - After dropping the doubles point, USF looked in danger of losing the match in singles play. But two furious rallies at the number two and number four spots powered the Lady Dons to a 5-2 victory against UC Davis in non-conference women's tennis action Friday at Golden Gate Park. With the win, San Francisco improves to 3-0 on the season. Anna Skogerboe lost the opening set 6-3 to UC Davis' Amy Miller, but roared back for a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win at number two, while Stephanie Chang fell 6-1 in the opener, but clawed back for a 1-6, 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 victory against Jennifer Fong. The Lady Dons earned wins at number one as Gabi Ruiz cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 decision against Janice Salomon. Carey Savage defeated Gretchen Schantz 6-1, 6-3 at number three, while Michelle Duncan dispatched Kerri Roemer 6-0, 6-2 at number five. San Francisco returns to action when they travel to Saint Mary's for a West Coast Conference match on Thursday, Feb. 13. Match time is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
