Women's Tennis Falls to UC Davis 6-1

(Davis, CA) Junior Jennifer-Lee Heinser earned the only singles with for the Dons (1-2) on Friday, as they fell to UC Davis 6-1 in women's tennis action at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
Heinser defeated Desiree Stone in two sets, 6-3, 6-4, to win the point for USF. Heinser and junior Cecilia Gratian also earned a win in doubles, 8-6 over Herzyl Legaspi and Stone, but did not earn the doubles point as freshman Yurie Hasiguchi and sophomore Julia Wartenburger fell 8-4 to Lauren Curry and Ellie Edles, and freshmen Melinda Akerbrant and Blair Reed dropped an 8-4 decision to Noelle Eades and Dahra Zamudio.
Wartenburger fought at the No. 2 singles position, taking Zamudio to three sets, but fell 5-7, 6-1, 7-5. Sophomore Alana McMahon also fought for three sets at the No. 4 position, but dropped a 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 decision to Edles.
USF returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Cal Poly for a noon start.
