Women's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight 5-2 at Pacific

(Stockton, CA) - USF picked up their most impressive victory to date with a 5-2 victory against the University of the Pacifc Sunday in non-conference women's tennis action at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts. With the win, USF (5-0) continues to roll, while Pacific (2-5) earned a split on the day with a win against UC Riverside. San Francisco won the doubles point for only the second time this season, winning at number two and three. In singles action, the Lady Dons continued to show their improvement, winning at number one, four, five and six. Gabi Ruiz battled for a big win at number one in a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 marathon against the Tigers' Katharina Heil. Beate Bernhoft won at number four 6-2, 6-2 against Jaimee Bremmer, while USF's Michelle Duncan continued to play well at number five with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory at number five. Courtney Chung of the Lady Dons downed Lisa Lester 6-4, 6-1 at number six. USF returns to action when they travel to Bay Area and West Coast Conference rival Saint Mary's Thursday, February 20 at 3:30 PM. The match will still be played at SMC's Timothy Korth Tennis Complex. The match was originally scheduled for Feb. 13, but was rescheduled due to rain.
