Women's Tennis Dominates Hawaii, 6-1

(San Francisco, CA) - USF women's tennis dominated Hawaii on Monday, earning a 6-1 win at the Olympic Club. The Dons improve to 3-5 on the season.
San Francisco swept all six spots in singles play, but dropped two of three matches in doubles.
Junior Jennifer-Lee Heinser and freshman Melinda Akerbrant earned the Dons only win in doubles play, defeating Sophie Kobuch and Katarina Poljakova 8-4.
In singles, No. 65 Heinser earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Barbara Pinterova. At No. 2, sophomore Julia Wartenburger defeated Kobuch 6-1, 6-4 and at No. 3, junior Cecilia Gratian won a hard fought set 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 over Poljakova. Akerbrant defeated Natasha Korec 7-5, 7-5 at No. 4, followed by freshman Yurie Hashiguchi winning 6-4, 6-1 over Alyssa Nafarrete at No. 5. To close out the USF sweep, sophomore Alana McMahon defeated Aglae Van den Bergh 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 6 position.
USF returns to the court on Friday, February 26 at the University of Nevada. Match play in Reno begins at 5:00 PM.
