USF Women's Tennis Beats #20 UC San Diego 7-0

The USF Dons (5-2) women's tennis team beat UC San Diego (6-1), the number #20 ranked team in Division II, 7-0 at Golden Gate Park Sunday. The Dons used dominating performances in both singles and doubles matches from Senior Gabi Ruiz and Junior Michelle Duncan to knock off the visiting Tritons. For UCSD, it was their first defeat of the season.
Ruiz, playing at the #3 position, beat Leigh Roberts 6-1, 6-2, while Duncan, playing in the #6 slot, beat Tara Siddigui 6-2, 6-3. Two singles matches went to tie-breakers. Freshman Megan Tiegs, playing at #2, won a tie-breaker with Jasmin Dao, 6-4, 3-6 (10-8). Playing at #5, Freshman Anna Skogerbee beat Kristina Jansen, 7-5, 5-7 (10-4).
In doubles action, The Dons were led by their number #1 team of freshman Camille Pamart and Joana Laranjihna, winning 8-3 over Dao and Julie Westerman.
Next up for the USF Dons women's tennis team will be Davidson University, visiting from North Carolina. The match will take place at Golden Gate Park Friday at 2:00 PM.
