USF Women's Tennis Downs Gonzaga 6-1

(Moraga, CA) - USF women's tennis bounced back into the victory column with a 6-1 victory against Gonzaga Saturday afternoon at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The Dons (4-5, 1-2 WCC) collect their first league victory of the season at the expense of the Zags, who watched their three-game winning streak snapped.
USF won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 and won five out of the six singles matches. Camille Pamart cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and Emma Taylor won a three set battle against Amanda Becker 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. Joana Macedo dispatched Kendall Bates 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3. Gonzaga secured its lone singles win at No. 4 as Sirrah Williams defeated Megan Tiegs in a marathon match 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.
Anna Skogerboe won a 6-1, 7-6 (2) decision at No. 5 singles, while Pichaya Lasoirichon blanked Sydney Lederhouse 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
USF returns to action when they host UC Davis Tuesday, March 8. First serve against the Aggies is slated for 1:30 PM at Golden Gate Park.
